AC Shadows Introduces Unexpected AoT Event for Holiday Season
In a surprising crossover event that defies conventional forecasts, Ubisoft has announced an in-game partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected holiday event operates from November 25 through December 22, offering complimentary extra story content for Shadows players.
Strange Adventure Revealed
According to the formal release, "An unusual confrontation draws characters Naoe and Yasuke into a new quest, where hints of prohibited rituals and fearsome changes reverberate through the obscurity." The plot presents a "oddly dressed woman named Ada" who assigns the duo with journeying into the Crystalline Cavern—a important location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her friend from a clandestine sect.
The mission concentrates on "strange experiments and a terrifying adversary" and is available to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Iconic Places and Transformations
The preview highlights the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was formerly where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The teaser ends with a powerful moment showing a character, likely the prisoner, morphing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Prizes and Extra Content
Players who successfully complete the adventure will obtain an exclusive katana alongside several artifacts concealed throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also includes in-store Attack on Titan item packs, including:
- Titan-themed outfit for Yasuke
- Mikasa attire for Naoe
- Special weapons
- Survey Corps mount
Third Free Story Content
This patch also introduces the game's third complimentary story content, titled "The Enigma." This playful quest partners Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange signature abilities: Naoe introduces a dramatic version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires non-fatal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Mystery" also contains a new environmental puzzle that may eventually clarify some unresolved questions from the main storyline.
Previous Anime Partnerships
This marks not the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with popular anime properties. The series formerly included a 2020 cross-promotional story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Additionally, Valhalla unofficially featured a quest that clearly echoed the famous series One-Punch Man.
