According to recent claims from a informant, the convicted associate of Jeffrey Epstein, currently serving a 20-year prison term for sex-trafficking crimes, is allegedly readying a clemency request for consideration by the Trump administration.

Special Treatment Claimed at Correctional Facility

Congressional Democrats on the judicial oversight panel announced that a source provided information indicating Maxwell is preparing the clemency petition. Additionally, they mentioned she has been receiving special treatment at the federal prison camp in Texas.

Representative Jamie Raskin, the top Democrat on the committee, stated in a news release that the facility's chief was “helping” the convict with copying, printing, and sending documents to aid her effort for clemency.

Specific details of the clemency request are unclear, the congressman noted.

Alleged Privileges and Custom Arrangements

Raskin states that, according to the whistleblower, the prisoner has been receiving “customized” meals that are hand-delivered to her living area, and the supervisor has “personally arranged” exclusive visits for her and her visitors.

The visits allegedly include a designated private space for visitors and a variety of food and drinks for her associates.

Those visiting Maxwell were also allowed to carry electronic devices, which the congressman characterized as an “unprecedented action” given the security risk and chance of unsupervised contact.

Reportedly on one occasion, when communications failed for other inmates, Maxwell was given specific instructions about instructing her contacts to contact and how staff would relay the call to her.

Warden as “Personal Secretary”

The whistleblower further reportedly told House Democrats that when Maxwell wanted to review and edit documents “quickly”, she reportedly employed the warden as her private aide.

The news release indicates that Maxwell’s correspondents would send files directly to the warden, who would provide them to Maxwell, for her to examine and change and provide them back to the warden to scan and provide to the initial correspondent.

Extra Benefits Alleged

Further perks allegedly granted to Maxwell include time to “play with” a service dog puppy – a benefit typically prohibited – as well as exclusive nighttime use to the prison exercise area.

Her legal counsel has not yet replied to a request for comment regarding the insider's allegations.

Through a spokesperson, the White House said that it “will not discuss” on potential clemency requests.

“As President Trump has stated, pardoning Ghislaine Maxwell is not something he has thought about,” the representative added.

Recent Background

Over the weekend, it was reported that she told close associates in emails from prison that she was “much happier” at the new prison than her previous prison.

This past summer, Maxwell was moved from a secure facility in Tallahassee, Florida to the less restrictive prison in the state, where most inmates are incarcerated for financial and non-violent crimes.

The transfer, which authorities called as exceptional, occurred just days after she was questioned about the Epstein case by the senior justice official, Todd Blanche, who also once acted as Donald Trump's private attorney.

This questioning came as the Trump administration was facing increasing scrutiny to release more documents related to the ongoing probe and amid intense speculation around the President's own connections to the disgraced financier and adjudicated criminal, who was found dead in a New York jail in 2019 while facing trial on trafficking accusations.

Lawmaker Reactions

In the news release, the congressman also revealed that he had sent a letter to Trump, demanding answers about the insider's claims, and urged the president to reject Maxwell’s commutation request.

“You should not grant any form of clemency to this adjudicated and remorseless criminal,” the representative stated in the letter. “The government must not offer her with room service, with canine interaction, with government agents attending to her requests, or with any special treatment or facility benefit at all.”

The congressman asked that the official appear for a public congressional hearing to discuss the revelations and also posed three questions to Trump.

He inquired whether he had talked about a potential commutation for the convict with Blanche or others, whether he had instructed him or anyone else to provide her with the transfer or special conditions in prison, and whether she, her lawyers, relatives or agents have made any commitments to Trump or his legal team.

Raskin has asked for a response to the questions by the specified date.

In October, the US supreme court declined to hear an petition from the convict on her sex-trafficking conviction.
