Preamble

The author will be here shortly to guide you through this day's short race (2pm GMT) and grid-setting session (6pm).

Live Feed

Warm-Up Lap Period

The warm-up lap has started.

Circuit Details

We have 19 laps around the lengthiest track in F1, the commentator reminds us.

Final Moments

The last moments is on.

Racer Positions

One point in Verstappen's advantage: his fellow driver Tsunoda is in front of him by a single position. It's improbable to mess with Red Bull's lead driver.

Interview Updates

Sky's internal discussion now: Gary Neville is at the Mercedes team.

The analyst is looking forward to 2026, interviewing the engineer about his promotion to Aston Martin lead role.

Grid Details

Just sixteen vehicles on the grid. It was another poor grid-setting session for the driver: after coming twentieth and final in the previous race, leading to an eighth position in the main race, he failed to advance of Q1 again on Friday. Ferrari have consequently adjusted to his setup and so he begins from the pit lane.

Aston Martin's Lance Stroll and the Alpine duo of Gasly and Colapinto are all doing likewise.

Racer Statements

"We'll use the learning for the next day," states Hadjar, 11th on the grid. There will be a lot of that.

Team Standings

The focus isn't solely on the individual championship: The team have dominated the team championship but the team, with a 40-point lead over their rivals, are aiming to secure the runner-up position during this event. Russell can assist in this goal from the front row, and Antonelli will begin immediately after the leader.

Previous Results

Piastri won that day – as he managed last year, too. The driver from McLaren is going for a third consecutive win.

Sprint Race Value

Right, approximately twenty minutes remaining until the sprint race begins. Unless something goes wrong, it's greatest value is as an indication of what is to come, rather than significant in its own right, with just eight championship points available to the winner. Mind you, second place here was sufficient for Verstappen to claim the title in a prior season.

Max Verstappen wins the championship following Pérez crashes out of the short race.
