The Lionesses v the Chinese team – Women's Friendly Match

Preamble

Greetings and welcome to the friendly match between England and the Chinese squad at Wembley Stadium. The match is set to be a thriller with the reigning European champions competing against the holders of the Asian Cup title.

The home of English football is fully booked for the event, which will see Fran Kirby honored pre-match after her retirement from the national team before the Euro tournament this past summer.

Squad announcements will be announced shortly, but there was a recent squad update for England. On Friday, the goalkeeper Khiara Keating withdrew from the squad with a minor injury, and so previous starter Ellie Roebuck has been added to the squad.

With Hannah Hampton injured, it will be notable to find out who England manager Sarina Wiegman selects in goal. That news and all the other updates are incoming before the start of the match at 5:30 in the evening GMT.

Lineup Announcements

Squad details are now available. Anna Moorhouse starts in goal for England in the non-presence of Hannah Hampton and Khiara Keating.

The Lionesses: Moorhouse, Bronze, Charles, Walsh, Le Tissier, Morgan, Mead, Stanway, Russo, Toone, Hemp.

Substitutes: Hings, Baggaley, Kendall, Wubben-Moy, Beever-Jones, Kelly, Kearns, Park, Blindkilde Brown, Roebuck, Clinton, Denton, Fisk, Godfrey.

We are awaiting the Chinese lineup now; as soon as I have it, I will share it.

Captaincy Update

Keira Walsh is leading the Lionesses with Leah Williamson still sidelined. She shared these thoughts before this encounter:

First Cap News

This evening’s match will be Anna Moorhouse’s debut for England. She was a part of the European Championship squad who claimed victory this past summer, but she did not play any minutes with Hannah Hampton in the first-choice keeper position.
