The President Calls Loved Ones of Shot National Guard Soldiers to the White House

Former President Trump stated on the weekend that he has asked the family of a National Guard member fatally shot last week to come to the White House.

He noted that he conversed with her family and they were “heartbroken”.

Details on the Heartbreaking Shooting

US army specialist Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was killed in a attack on Wednesday in DC.

Her fellow service member, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still in the hospital in critical condition.

Gatherings across the state have occurred in their remembrance.

Presidential Call

The president said he’s proposed a White House visit for the parents of both members of the West Virginia Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a tough thing, come to the White House. We’re going to honor Sarah,” the president told journalists. “And likewise with Andrew, whether he recovers or not.”

Community Reaction

Mourners came together over the past few days at Webster County high school in West Virginia to honor Sarah.

Both she and Wolfe had been serving with the military unit as part of the president’s national effort to support law enforcement in the capital.

Remembering Beckstrom

“She was the type of pupil that instructors wished for. She carried herself with quiet strength, a bright grin and a upbeat demeanor that inspired those around her,” the principal, the head of her former high school, informed the Associated Press. “She was sweet, caring and always eager to help others.”

Service details for Beckstrom are in the process of planning.

Judicial Actions and Policy Revisions

Authorities have charged a twenty-nine-year-old Afghan national with a charge of homicide and charges of assault with intent to kill while armed.

The incident prompted the government to pause refugee claims and halt granting visas to holders of travel documents.

Condition of the Airman

Wolfe, a native of Martinsburg, began his service in 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman High, as reported by the AP.

He remains under medical supervision and is “battling to survive”, West Virginia leader the governor said on television.

Attorney general the attorney general told the program that she aimed to speak to his relatives.

Legacy of the Fallen Soldier

Beckstrom, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County high school in mid-2023 and began her service not long after, working as a military police officer with honor, according to the West Virginia National Guard.

“She had a lot of goodness and she absolutely had bravery,” Morrisey addressed the crowd at the vigil. “Though her time ended too soon, she has made an impact that’s going to endure.”
